He was raised on a farm in. His mother died giving birth, and he was raised by his grandparents. It was not a happy childhood. But he educated himself by borrowing books Library. Becoming an entrepreneur, he made his first business transaction with a radio station in Augusta Georgia at the age of 21. From there he bought and started over 40 companies, many of them traded over the New York Stock Exchange. He served on the Georgia State Legislature, and has been lauded for his incredible philanthropy. He has given over one hundred million dollars to charity. He is chairman of the Fuqua Companies, holds honorary degrees from ten colleges and universities. He has received numerous national awards... .
